Scanlan Davila Boxing Invitational
The First Annual Scanlan / Davila Boxing Invitational
A fundraiser to establish and benefit scholarship funds for the children of Toamalama Scanlan and Juanita Davila who were grievously wounded by an armed attacker while on duty at the Fresno County Jail on Saturday, September 3, 2016. The event will feature (number) of the Central Valley's next wave of talented up-and-coming young boxers in all weight divisions. (Awards or titles?)
Presented by The Fresno County Public Safety Association
WHAT: An amateur boxing card featuring dozens of Valley boxers including fighters from the Fresno County Sheriff's Department
WHY: Because Scanlan and Davila face years of difficult physical and financial challenges from injuries suffered while serving in the line of duty.
Their families gladly share the burden but funding for college seems out of reach without some help. The Fresno County Public Safety Association intends to establish an annual fundraising program to assure that the children will have the opportunity to attend college.
